Re: Pacific Pro Audio R-one Ribbon mic?
Garth--I'm down for a pair of the PPA if we can all agree to have PPA do it. I live in Seattle (where PPA is from) so it would be great if I could just drive down and pick my pair up...
Thanks
Jake
Thanks

Re: Pacific Pro Audio R-one Ribbon mic?
so, does anyone have any requests for future "gear co-op" group buys??? how about those agile les paul copies that are going for around $250 on ebay... or maybe some cool fx/stompboxes?darjama wrote:Which makes me think that a gear co-op may be a good idea. The problem would be finding products that we can get decent savings on at relatively low volumes that enough people here would be interested in and could afford. I doubt we'd get enough of a discount on a Royer 121 that we could move even 20 units, but who knows? My guess is any electronics produced in the U.S. is already operating on a pretty thin margin.

Totally unwarranted. I don't know you so I don't know if you're having a laugh or being serious. So although I'd love to respond with bite I'll refrain. Keep your comments to yourself if this is all you have to say. I'm just as interested as everybody else in having this all go down as efficeintly as possible. So since it was a related topic and PPA is offering help I wanted to draw his attention to it. You don't like that fine, 1000 apologies but seriously kind sir, get over it.sserendipity wrote:You bastard. Well, I've heard back regarding shipping, and by sea turns out to be real reasonable. If were to do it ourselves, These could be delivered to everyone for $90 each. This includes manufacturing, shipping, broker fees and customs, and shipping within the US. Air freight would be a little more reasonable if we did it without the cases, but judging from the survey, the majority of people want the cases.
With PPA's markup plus transaction fees, that would be $202 for a pair with the aluminum case. PPA should be able to do better than that since they're ordering for themselves as well as us. Plus, judging from the other thread, we'd be ordering over 150 at this point.

Re: Pacific Pro Audio R-one Ribbon mic?
how about breaking it into 7 purchases of $1000 EACH and doing paypal
so it's insured [up to $1000]
just a thought

Holy shit.
I make a wiseass joke, go away for a couple of days, and look what happens!
For the record, I was kidding when I suggested the group buy. I figured that the hastles with import/export and QC alone would make this more of a PITA than a cheap mic was worth, but then Garth stepped up and offered to actually make it happen. I'm stunned- the internet is a strange and wonderful place. Even though it's only really good for porn.
