Looks like they've got an Oktava MC-012 copy as well. Comes with the three capsules:
This one looks pretty interesting too:
Does anybody have any experience with these mics?

I'll be in for two as well.
Re: Pacific Pro Audio R-one Ribbon mic?
wow. that's like 200 bucks shipped. Has anyone ordered from them folks before?pscottm wrote:yes they're made in the same chinese factory as the nady and others.
they're even cheaper here. and on the east coast shipping from germany is just as fast if not quicker than from the pacific northwest. too bad the dollar isn't any stronger right now.
I'd love to take part in the pink 70 dollar action but, well, you know. Maybe tape op can put up the money? I'm sure larry has $7000 sitting around...

Re: Pacific Pro Audio R-one Ribbon mic?
I dont wanna ruin all the fun or anything but if I had all the $70's I spent on things that didnt quite sound good but got the job done, if I had all that money from all the years I bought junk I would be able to buy a really nice mic. Like a really nice one. I guess if you need a mic and you've spent all your dough pulling rails off of strippers then you gotta buy one of these (a sporting night of breast augmentation rail pulling olympics might actually justify owning a mic like this) but if you can save you might be better off with something like a U47. I certainly could afford to buy one when I think of all the money I spent on bullshit gear over the years.

I've had my Nady about a week, like it enough so far but really need a real preamp for it.
If I group buy ever happens I could certainly swing $140 for two more.

nope. are they cool? I know I come off like a snob but I also dont have a U47 because I spent too much money on stuff like this when I was younger. Im really not a snob, Im a realist. Sometimes there is a fine line...toaster3000 wrote:dave, have you heard one?

Re: Pacific Pro Audio R-one Ribbon mic?
no, i totally understand (and share) that sentiment, but these are actually pretty fucking good mics... we tried one of the nady's out over here at g, and it was pretty great. for 70 bucks, it's fucking amazing... if it was 500 bucks, it would be mediocre. it's definately a mic that justifies it's existance. it's well built, heavy and solid feeling, and sounds like a ribbon... 3 good things. i don't know how good quality control is, but the one we heard was good.
if someone were to spend a grand on it, i'd say 'fuck that and save up for a cmv563' but for 70 bucks it would be a rediculous steal...

count me in, hell, i think it would be cool if it was 200 a pair.
Re: Pacific Pro Audio R-one Ribbon mic?
also, you can buy two for $140, sell one of them for $140 or so.
so your U47 fund will remain undisturbed.

So, tell more. Was if fat and wooly? Or thin like the new beyer m260s? You probably didn't do a real detailed analysis... But were the nulls pretty seriously deep? Did it sound the same front and back?toaster3000 wrote:we tried one of the nady's out over here at g, and it was pretty great. for 70 bucks, it's fucking amazing... john
And if you don't remember any of that shit, what did it sound like?
Thanks!
