Pacific Pro Audio R-one Ribbon mic?

I have the T.Bone and it's good. Insanely good for the money. It walks ALL over the Oktava ribbon. Crushes in every regard.

What I want to see and hear is a Lundahl transformer mod for the Nady/PPA/Tbone. I suspect that it will be 60 bucks well spend.

And a note to all potential buyers: I know you've heard it but it needs to be said again - this microphone needs a quality preamp. I'm talking $500 and up for a stereo preamp.
Unless you only plan on using it on electic guitar, drums and loud singing.

the seventh circle n72 should be fine in terms of a pre-amp...correct? i have the oktava m-52 and i was trying it last night for some light female vocals i have coming up. i really liked the quality that the oktava through the n72 imparted on the vocals...but...a) the noise floor was unacceptable with the gain completely cranked (she's soft singer) and b) i was afraid that it might be a hair too dark for the main vocals. what was cool though was that it completely minimized all those mouth clicks and pops that drive me crazy.

anyway...long story short...i ordered a t-bone ribbon this morning. i figured i could always e-bay either it or the oktava if i'm not happy. i hear that the t-bone (and nady...same thing i guess) are more open sounding with less self noise. i hope that this is true 'cause it seems like it would rectify my two main concerns with the oktava.

I have heard pretty decent things about the Nady ribbon, so I'd be down for 1 or two of these...at the very least it can go on the BAY...
Did anybody see those Blue style mics...hmmm. They seem to be the cheapest.

bill...sorry for the dopey question but i'm not sure what you meant by the 5:1.

it's good to hear you got great results...i'm was leaning towards liking the oktava through it for female vocals for it's fullness and it's ability to minimize the clicks and pops (normally i'd have to go back and edit those out...what a pain in the a**) but the noise floor was just maddening. hiiiisssssssssssssssssss.

not good when i would need to probably boost the hi end a bit to bring the vocals a little forward.

Do we know who has the contact info? This could totally happen with minimal work. I guess the hard part is figuring out costs of shipping and - important to note - cost of customs/duty. I'm not sure how that works out in the U.S. as I live in Canada. But on a bulk order coming from china.. something's gonna happen. I think the big hassle is figuring out shipping costs within our continent to the 50+ people buying them, and should we average that or have each person responsible for their exact shipping costs?

Lots of questions, and I don't have the answers.. but whoever has the contact info, someone already volunteered to do the money collecting, so, lets get it started!

Oooops, checked my records and it was the J-99 I was useing at 5:1 input ratio to get 84 dB gain. I don't think the N72 can do that as it's max gain is 70 dB.... Sorry for the false hope.

but do you think that the 70db or so on the n72 will not be enough for the t-bone to open up properly?
