I heard from a source that thay actually asked the drummer to leave.

he will be replaced by the drummer from the equally shitty band three doors down.

I could definetly tell the difference in the 2 songs. By 2003 they had figured out how to compress it even more. The right speaker is clearly louder.

I find it amusing that the kid who "figured this out" makes music that sounds like Alice In Chains, Tool, and John Mayer all at the same time. 'Gee, pop music sounds homogenous.' PhD dissertation material. Hmmmmmmm......

12 notes in the scale. Common "pop" song structures/forms... next.

I was in the room where they store all their tour gear today. I think they actually did get a new drummer not long ago and he's not on either of the records.

I heard this back in November, while my band was recording down in NC and found it truly disturbing, as I still do. Formulas are so mundane.

However, in retrospect, don't you just KIND OF think that they pulled a big one on all the AOR/jockrock/redneck listeners out there? I mean, this is more Kraftwerk-styled shit than anything! In one of my last posts, I pontificated about Kraftwerk playing twice on the same night with different "people" playing the music ... but everyone was fooled into thinking it was actually Kraftwerk.

Stereolab just released a record where you can pull apart the left channel, and the right channel and hear two different records -- and yet together, both of them together sound unique as well. Is this _really_ no different?

In all honesty, this is an argument based on shit -- but I'm playing the devils advocate again, so please, let me know.

Forgot to mention that I'm a little drunk when I posted that last post.

Just so you know, I'd never use "pontificate" in everyday conversation.

Not really going to argue with much you said, but if I recall correctly, the Stereolab record was actually the same record, recorded twice, once for each channel as a concept, not two different recordings being issued as such.

I think that, with a little exploration, the 'amazing find' this kid had with the two Nickelback songs could be done with many. many, many popular songs. Not that big of a 'discovery' IMO, but it is kinda funny, I admit.

3DD. I wouldn't care either way except that their drum tech lives here in Charlotte and is a friend of mine (and a freaking GREAT drummer). They also happen to store their gear at a facility where I just mixed a bunch of stuff.
