Have you tried shutting down and restarting your computer? Save your session first.

Try some WD-40.

OK, seriously, in XP, do a roll back from the last restore-point?

Or a re-install; '98 do a reinstall or restore backup.

Sorry, but that's all I can think of...
bandcamp;
blog.
I mix with olive juice.

that used to happen to me - I cen't remember what it was. Try changing the devices around - chances are the audio may be disabled completely.

Disable your windows sound, or set it to use a different device than you are using for your work. I had to upgrade, yes, UPGRADE from Windows XP to Windows 98SE to get all my stuff working right.. I love certain things about Cool Edit, but it's really qwerky sometimes.

I have not had any problems that had not been user error due to my limit knowledge on the software. I am about to upgrade to Audition 1.5. I have really liked this program for a long time.

Does this happen in all sessions or just one?

Upgrade my ass. 98 and 98se are shit! :)

I have used CEP with XP Pro and never had this problem. I would do as others suggested and check whats going on with your audio drivers, and preferences. Make sure there is no conflicts all of a sudden.

You should ask Peter Quistgard. I'm sure he can help you with your problem.

Heh heh.....now that's good humor.

I have to admit I too wondered where I remembered that from... Have to come clean and admit that for about a month I used the "Peter Quistgaard" crack before I ponied up and bought it. Have Audition 1.5 now -- it's something I use EVERY day and I consider it possibly the best money spent in my studio. But yeah.....damn. I really hope there aren't folks out there who use something like this all the time and don't consider supporting the developers.

Oh, by the way, I've never had that particular problem with Audition, but uninstalling/re-installing usually helps with imponderables -- clean out the registry entries whilst doing so for a totally clean re-install. Good luck.
