How close to the real thing do UAD-1 Plug-In's sound?

It doesn't sound exactly like the real thing if you a/b them. It is useful though and the gui is like the real thing making it intuitive to use. If you want the real thing, get the real thing.

if your thing has no knobs and just exposed pot shafts, will it gve your mix better street cred?

I should be working on the street cred plugin instead of giving away all my brilliance on the internet (which is for porn)...
