Questions about this tape machine I inherited

So the take up reel doesnt seem to want to work well during playback and not at all in record mode. Plus i cant seem to get the face off of it to look inside without applying some force (or maybe Im missing a screw somewhere?) and i dont want to do that because i would rather not break the thing anymore than it already is. I got a bunch of unopened boxes of tape to go with it....Curse me and my DAW generation. I would really like to try out some analog recording so my questions are...

1.Anyone think they could talk me through opening this thing up and fixing it?
2.If not, can anyone recommend someone in the Nashville area that might be able to fix it (and money is always an issue)
3.Would it be worth the money to fix, or is this thing a piece of crap not worth its weight in metal?

Never realized i was such a neophyte until this thing ended up in my hands. All opinions welcome. Thanks!

Looks like a plain old consumer deck. Don't put more than the price of a new belt into it. If you can figure out a way to open it and tinker with it have fun. These can be cool to get LoFi sounds.
