what to buy for digital cpu recording?

Post by beefjerkey » Mon Jan 31, 2005 5:11 pm

So I am in need of some digital recording info. I am ok with pro tools, even beter with the makie hdr. and mastered cool edit years ago. what i need to know is what should i buy with a budget of about $2000 as far as stuff to get a good digi set up at our studio?
I have an decent cpu that i can dedicate to recording. so what i need to know is sound cards, a/d converters/programs(pro tools, digi performer, cool edit?).
I also need to be able to dump 24 tracks from my 2" machine, and want to be compatible with other studios. let me know your thoughts. Thanks R :?

You can't use Digital Performer on the PC. ProTools is the standard but getting 24 tracks in will be a challenge financially.

Personally I like the MOTU interfaces and I'm running Cubase SX2. But what's wrong with the Mackie harddisk recorder? Is that the one that you can hook up a monitor and mouse to and edit? Or is that the Alesis?

Go with watcha know! :)

Try the "This fucking computer" area.

We could tell you what to buy but you don't have much to spend and your machine is getting outdated. Go to e-bay. They have everything.
