Re: Mic Pre Question
I'd just leave it on the the front panel.. You don't wanna ruin a perfectly good knob.

Re: Mic Pre Question
well if its not a big knob you need to sell it, and buy a bigger knob. once youve got a big knob i would put the knob about 1 drumstick length behind the snare drum and about 3-6" below the top of the drum. put it there. and no where else. you should listen to this advice because ive been recording for about 1/10th the time(maybe less, i dont know your vintage) you have.

Re: Mic Pre Question
Well, we know fidelity is the sole purpose of a recording, so continue to reduce the pre level until you hear the most natural replication of the kit. At that point you may be hearing it from the drum room only. That is ok, push record.

Re: Mic Pre Question
Im going to keep the knob on the front panel, I was actually wondering how much I should turn it. Oh yeah, I should mention, the drum kit is in a room and the mic is on a stand.
anyone?

Re: Mic Pre Question
the setting of the gain depends entirely on the knob sitting in front of the knob on the preamp

Re: Mic Pre Question

Re: Mic Pre Question
why, do I need that?
should I buy a new knob?
should I buy something else?
can I get a deal on it?

Re: Mic Pre Question
turn it to the notch that says "condescending prick". ah, you've already done that.
(nice to have you back, dave. )

Re: Mic Pre Question
Hold the knob firmly and start drinking heavily. As you're passing out and falling over, let go before you hit the ground. When you wake up the next day, it should be set at just the right level, just like pros.soundguy wrote:its a red knob with a white indicator line.

Re: Mic Pre Question
I would definately try turning it in a clockwise direction.
Yes, I believe clockwise is the way to go.
