French Apple Keyboard and Pro Tools

Post by earth tones » Thu Feb 03, 2005 12:29 pm

I am wondering if a French-style apple keyboard would be compatible with standard Pro Tools key commands. For instance, I do not see [ ] keys, which are used for zoom and amplitude height in PT. Does Pro Tools respond to the key position on the keyboard or to the actual symbol. The keys that normally have the [ ] symbols are ^ and ?. Will Pro Tools still zoom when these are pressed since they are in the same position??? and so on, for the other keys. Thank you for anybody who may have some insight on this.

this could probably been as well suited in the computer end of the forum, but here's some insight. if you are running osx, go to your sytem prefences pane and select the 'international' tab. once in there, you can select the 'input menu' tab. it allows you to switch your keyboard to any of the multitude of nationalities avaiable. by setting it to U.S., the keys will respond as an american keyboard would, based upon key position and not the character. hope that gets you there.
