You know what sucks?

The bass tone on Pinkerton. I never noticed before...and I love that album.

What else where you surprised to find out that sucked?

sacrilige!

actually, there is one thing about pinkerton that's annoying to me. the low tom that thumps through the beginnning of 'el scorcho' so out of tune with the track and so damned loud. love that album. more for the songs than puig's tone on that one. not his best. maybe that's what you're getting at. maybe it's not the bass, but the obscene drum compression that's muddying up the bass. just a thought...

you know what sucks?

the remaster of jeff buckley's 'grace'
should've left it alone methinks.

funny, I always thought the bass tone was one of the very best parts of that album. It's fuzzy and messed up, like the rest of the record.

And fremitus, you need to change that avatar. I can't concentrate on any of the posts with that in the corner of my screen. What movie is that from?

KEEP THE AVATAR!

The drum sounds on Black Sabbath's "Master of Reality" are a joke. Same goes for tons of 70s records I guess. Usually when I enjoy the music so much it might take a long time to realize the sounds suck but this I spotted long ago.

That avatar is delicious! (sick pervert word on purpose. Delicious makes me cringe.. ugh).

Anyway,
nice boobs on a cute girl by the pool aside....

There are tons of records that I realized technically sound like poop, but they wouldnt be so dear to me if they sounded any different.

That is part of what set me on a quest (another cringer) for what "better" really is!

Most of my favorite records sound like shit if you look at them in a modern recording technical way.
Doesn't stop me from loving them, or even trying to capture some of the same shittyness on my own recordings.

Thank you. That is what I was rambling about. Well said, without my babbling...

Also... (to babble some more about this)...

I HATE middle of the road lifeless one dimensional recordings as opposed to REALLY shitty recordings. The really shitty ones have life... The really good ones have life.

It seems only at the "top" and the "bottom" of recording lives something interesting. That is why I hate so many of the recordings made today. Boring, "safe" not exciting, non adventurous crap trying desparately to be accepted by the big budget "heroes." I guess I will always be a little punk rock. Fuck everyone. Make your own sound. Nothing sounds more feeble than some band recorrding themselves and wanting to be radiohead so fucking bad but they come up with a shitty, boring, poorly recorded "album" at home with none of the sense of adventure that could have made a SHITTIER recording really stand out!

Shitty recording: People hear content

Mediocre recording: People hear the mediocre recording.

Great recording: people hear content.

I swear this seems to be true!

fremitus, does the girl in your avatar hang at the pool at Andirons Lodge?

She's hot, those titties are sweet!

Shitty recordings? That's OK, I got a big mic! :P

fremitus...

Thank you for the avatar. I'll now offically go on record as to state that her breasts are close to, if not actually, perfect (she's fucking beautiful, too, isn't she?)...
