I know it requires a tremendous ammount of self control not to use your wit and sarcasm to lay into this person but really, what I gather from their posts is that they simply want a reaction. So take that away from them and they effectively lose their "power".

Whether or not this creates an attack on me from said individual I really could care less. I have no concern for quickly moving pixels on a screen which display words to me from a perfect stranger living in the ether of the internet simply to incite some kind of reaction from other perfect strangers.

Armchair's stuff is pretty funny in places, actually. It's the punctuation that gets annoying. Of course, the internet is the only thing that's going to revive English classes in elementary school - grammar skills, anyone? So hard to take someone seriously through a run-on sentence.

This board is no different than all others - veterans that are super nice to each other, then civil and sometimes harsh to those not in the clique. I still cannot understand the efforts it must take to post even 500 messages in a year, much less 1000's. Studio owners I know (and pay for time with) locally don't have the time. Hell, I have a day job and still don't have much to post about (this one included). Seems like some of you should take up letter writing or blogging, maybe?

Anyway, this board is no different than watching the band you love get thousands of new fans, which you immediate hate because the new guys don't share the history. TapeOp's audience is growing and reaching into the masses of amateur recordists and musicians, so you're going to get all kinds of neophytes. And you're going to get people lurking and searching (UTFSF) for good info from the same experts that have shitloads of time to post 100 replies a month. I can't decide if I'm flaming here or saying thanks, now that I think about it.

Still, it's funny to read a thread, on a mic technique or whatever, that turns into an ass-kissing fest reminiscent of an "Ace and Gary" episode, only to have an Armchair-type throw in a "sounds like you need a stake rammed in your ass!".

Funny as hell.

And, finally, I know this was a huge waste of time and post space, but unfortunately, we all have a right to sound off, no matter how random and useless the content. But, my day job's wrapping up today and I'm off to go make shitty, over-compressed music through my UA/Lynx/Nuendo home setup that I shouldn't own because I don't have the skills.
