The Balls . (period)

Post by soundguy » Thu Feb 03, 2005 11:08 pm

"Some Kind Of Monster" is now out on DVD.

Joe Berlinger has always been and will always be one of my greatest heroes on planet earth. If you hate metallica or "St. Anger", you will have hilarious laughs wathing this movie. If you are half interested in recording, you'll be glad you sufffered through it. If you like Metallica and have grown up with them, this is a really special look as shown by a responsible party. If you have any interest in REAL *documentary* fim making (like Harlan County USA) your head will absolutely explode when you see this. Politically, this film has access that a doc producer could only dream about, technically the film is a stunning success and for anyone that has ever engineered a record that has *completely* spun out of control, or for anyone that thought the mixerman diaries was total fiction, you'll be amazed at what was photographed and released for this movie. I thought, one time, I engineered a mess and then I saw this when it came out, my reaction, The Balls.

And again I'll say, The Balls.

And Lars' dad is the fucking wizard.

Joe and Bruce, you guys rule like no two people have business ruling.

The MM diaries are fiction, Dave! MM told me so himself after I outed him on PSW.

I know what I'm renting Sunday night!

i'm glad someone brought up the metallica dvd. the show itself is okay, but the real treat is the extras.

the scene where bob rock is practicing to play with them at that raider's tailgate party. they're running through "seek and destory," and bob is "singing" the chorus, and he's like "SEEK AND DESTROY!!" and then he grins like a little girl. so they're kicking on him because, dude, it's metal. dont' grin like a girl. and it's kinda funny.

Google says alcohol but i was convinced it was something more strange like attention or hair or something equally pathetic that he unecessarily had treated.

Everybody says they are treated for exhaustion or alcohol, but like any rich rockstar I bet it's coke.

dave, you hit the nail on the het with this one. it's amazing to see these four guys, so emasculated by their music, sitting there analyzing each others words, searching for validation, laboring to keep this multimillion dollar machine running at all costs. i think the two most eye-opening parts were when a.) lars freaks out, saying "jason is the future, metallica is the past" after catching the echobrain show and b.) when metallica's group therapist oversteps his bounds and hands het a little note with lyrical recommendations during a brainstorming session "i think he thinks he's in the band." on that note, what is up with het's nauseating rhyme scheme. oi and i could have sworn the snare on st. anger was just a trash can.
medicate? oh, i thought you said "meditate."
