...is there an impedance issue to keep in mind, or can I just hook it up and go?

You gotta get the right one. You might want to check out www.tubesandmore.com
I think that's their website. They stock lots of verb tanks...

The only true great mic on this planet is the Shure SM-57. It is the most consistant in not totally sucking of anything ever built. All other mics are "application dependant".
