what's so cool about those Eventides?

Post by bmsander » Sun Feb 06, 2005 9:18 pm

I mean, I've never seen one turned on, so I'm just asking out of curiousity. What do they do, and why is whatever they do so "good" (according to lots of folks . . .)???

yeah, the 3000. Sorry to be so vague.

I think those are older, right? Seems like 10 years ago or so every pro level studio I went to had one. Maybe they still do. I do most of my recording now, so I don't go to those kinds of studios much anymore.

I know they're geared more towards vocal effects and stuff. I've just always wondered why everybody seemed to have one.

for the left right harmonizer patch.
You know the "pre auto-tune" Fred Durst cover up the crappy singing thing.
Just about every one of these is on this setting when you walk in.

These were mind-melting wonder boxes, and still are. The string modeler was a treat in itself. The harmonizing sounds fantastic and all the other fx were really, really sweet. I still think it has some of the best sound phasers/flangers available.

i still love our eventide. really nice effects with excellent mod-ability. you can really get in there and do some tweaking. decent hall sounds. great pitch/delay space madness....

Yeah, they're cool. They do a bunch of things, depending on which version you have. They sound great and are very useful. The Micropitchshift is probably the most commonly-used effect in these. My favorite is the H3000DSE, but the H3000B is cool, too.

"wider is better" is my favorite. Amplitude depndent L-R delay thingy with micropitch shift for a vocal widener. I used to gate an SPX90 on the pitch change "C" before I got an eventide. Now I realized I like the gated SPX90 better.. ;)

Maybe not....
