So I got some used 1/2" tape, can I just wave the han-d-mag over it to erase?

I would think so, as long as it's strong enough. Try it, see what happens. It won't hurt anything

In the Annis litterature it says its strong enought to fully erase a 1/4" reel..use the blunt end on the top then flip over the reel and use it on the bottom..try it out on a 1/2" reel and let us know if it does..

I've used it to erase 1/2" tape before and it worked.
