Per Diems; How much in NYC?

Post by goldstar » Thu Feb 10, 2005 9:52 pm

I have a chance to go to NYC soon to do some specialty carpentry/acoustics work, and wondered if any of the New York hands could offer some guidance on a fair rate to ask.

My expenses will really be to eat and get around a bit in Manhattan for 2 weeks, since my accomodations will be covered. I'm not looking to make extra $ off the client, just not lose any of mine.

Thanks for any input.

It's 46 dollars a day.

There are some goverment links on the web to help you find the correct amount for tax purposes...

Shit, where do I sign? My personal budget allows for $14/day! $4 for the train (both ways) and $10 for food.
I clearly need a new job.

Soon to be $15, thanks to the fare hike.

The corporation I work for will allow you to spend $59 a day if visiting from out of town and working in NYC.

Sorry, that's just our meal allowance. Does not include travel. You can add to that for travel.

Spider

Thanks for the tip; I found the GSA's site with that info.

Everyone else

if you think ramen is cheap you should try lentils. for the price of three ramen you can make at least twice as much lentil soup. mmm.

oh yeah, please don't try to "fix" anything in mastering. it just isn't going to happen 85% of the time. great mixes make great masters, bad mixes make marginally better-than-bad masters.

the magic isn't in the mastering it's in the music!

Hey Frank!!! Realistically, figure $6 for the three subway rides, $6 for breakfast, $8 for lunch, $20 for dinner, and $6 for coffee/water throughout the day. So Spiderhead69's GSA-inspired suggestion is pretty much right on.

Send me an email, and lemme know when you'll be in NYC. I'd love for you to come visit my NYC studios.
