Anyone put any of these together and dug 'em?

I'm looking to get my hands dirty for the first time. I've been reading Craig Anderton's "Electronic Projects for Musicians" and feel relatively confident that I could accomplish something.

I just want to make sure that I can get something that'll be halfway decent.
