MIDI verb I any good?

Someone's offering me a sweet deal on a MIDI verb I. I've heard some good things about the MIDI verb II and 4, but nothing about these.

Anybody like 'em? Hate 'em?

I'm trying to avoid buying shit that's just going to be hanging around, taking up space. I used to have a ton of "maybe one day this will be JUST the thing I need" type stuff but I never used most of it and I just sold it all.

The price is $40. Maybe someone else is SF wants it?

IMO the Midiverb II is the best of the series. (Not really noisy if set up properly, and sonically still holds up to current stuff (except super-high-end things) on a lot of material, IMO.
Also, the XT (reverb, not ADAT) is a supah cool 'verb on snare. (Yep, noisy and grainy, but great on snare. )

don't think me a naysayer, but i think all of them are useless. save a few more bucks and get a better reverb. unless you are going for a 'grainy assed noisy as hell digital 80's tone, bump it up to a lexicon MPX100 or something. that's got some tone in it. just my opinion of course. some of the roland reverbs from that same time aren't as bad either and have decent plates. ibanez made a reverb that is identical to the sony MV-R201, (sdr 1000). it's a kickass, true stereo reverb. one of them sold for under $40 on ebay last week.

I have a MV4, sorry, can't tell you about the 1, but I'm one of the few who actually believe Alesis verb has an occasional place in a mix..

What I can tell you is that they are noisy. I bought an Ebtech Hum Eliminator. For months thought it was the worst investment I ever made. Then I put it on the MV4. I think those units were made for eachother.. Everything else gets noisier with that damn thing..
