Yeah, I thought the same thing. So I checked the Sennheiser site --heylow wrote:What is an MD21?

If this is the one he's talkin about, then I've seen em, but never in a kick drum. New things every day, hunh?

Let's hear it!!!
"slacky, boomy, loose" "50s Gretsch kit" Sounds like it's right up my alley!!

If you send me your MD21 I'll let you know if I like it!
Are these still in production?
Lately I've been using an EV 664 on kick. Those are the big metal spacegun sized mics. Good for that "bandwidth-limited" floppy shitty sound, but a lively, well-defined floppyness, not a dead splat that 57's give me off of kicks. Not good for captuing either deep bass or clicky hits. Death to clicky kick drums!

Yeah, but I've found that certain finishes sound better than others. The sparkle kits sound the best, but Gretsch really tapped into something with the Satin Flame kits in the sixties.cedric wrote:of the drumkit, being a 50s Gretsch kit doesn't ruin it either.
