What is an MD21?

421s and 441s, I'm WAY down with.....I dont seem to know what a 21 is though!

Yeah, I thought the same thing. So I checked the Sennheiser site --

Are these still in production?

Lately I've been using an EV 664 on kick. Those are the big metal spacegun sized mics. Good for that "bandwidth-limited" floppy shitty sound, but a lively, well-defined floppyness, not a dead splat that 57's give me off of kicks. Not good for captuing either deep bass or clicky hits. Death to clicky kick drums!

thats a pretty crazy pick up pattern?

an omni till 1k, then slowly turns cardiod? strange indeed.

looks interesting. looks expensive new. might be cheap on the used market...

now i want one.

they look a little bright? is that the case?

Yeah, but I've found that certain finishes sound better than others. The sparkle kits sound the best, but Gretsch really tapped into something with the Satin Flame kits in the sixties.
