Going to AES?

Post by NewYorkDave » Thu Sep 25, 2003 12:42 pm

Hi all. I don't have much free time these days to visit the ol' messageboard. But if any of yuz are coming to NY for AES, check in here. Maybe we can have a TapeOp get-together.

Let's do it.

For the Village-Voice-Deprived out-of-towners, these cool things (and many others) are going at night on that weekend:

10/10 - Yo La Tengo @ Warsaw
10/10 - Calexico @ Iving Plaza
10/10 - Radiohead @ Madison Square Garden (good luck)

10/11 - Hot Hot Heat @ Irving Plaza
10/11 - Thurston Moore @ Tonic

And if you're staying until Monday...

10/13 - Gina Gershon back by Girls Against Boys @ Pianos (strrange, but true)

I'm going. NYC should be a blast, esp. on an expense account. HA.

While in town you also may want to check out this show...

Sunday Oct 12th @ Sin-e 150 Attorney + Stanton Street

Hidden Driveways 10:45 PM
The Sems 9:45 PM
Low-Beam 9 PM
Pash 8:15 PM
Arbor Day 7:30 PM

Argueably, AES wouldn't be complete without it.

I am going now. Blue mics got me a pass, I guess.

I was gonna skip it again. (mope, grumble)

I live here, and I havent been above 15th st in like a year. It will be scary...

Guys from out of town:

Look for me around manhattan, I am 6 foot 2 and wearing pajamas, with a banjo and a chucky doll. I will probably use the code word "spare some change?"
to make sure you are truly from this messageboard.
to verify, reply "no, you fucking freak" and kick me in the balls.

Also:
The best part of brooklyn is East new york, or brownsville. There are probably some way nicer hotels than all that uptown mumbo jumbo...

If anyone wants an 'exhibits only' pass... just pop an email with your name, address, and the number of passes you need to Jay@mercenary.com and it will be taken care of straight away.

AES foosball tournament at the luna lounge on ludlow street on block south of houston. absolutely terrible bar with guaranteed terrible live music, but probably the best foosball table in town.

If you are dutch, you can even play on the soundguy's team.

someone pick a night and its on.

I suck at foosball; but if anyone wants to set up a little group meeting on the convention floor followed by lunch, that could be cool...

I will be there, a friend is getting me VIP passes from Dolby, I have never been to something like this so I was wondering whats the diff beween a VIP pass and a normal one? Whats the whole thing going to be like? and do they serve alcohol? Can you take pictures?

What day(s) would be the meetup? or the best day to go? I was thinking of going on the Sunday.

Whoh! Sweet. The VIP pass gets you into the exclusive VIP lounge! And I'm not even gonna tell ya what goes on in there...
The Edge... there is no honest way to explain it because the only people who really know where it is are the ones who have gone over.

Im guessing that the VIP pass allows you into some of the panels perhaps, the typical free passes you get just let you onto the exhibition floor.

Foosball friday night. Luna Lounge. No five bar goals.
