i sorta doubt mic choice is your problem here. sounds like you don't like the sound of the bass side. maybe a different (farther?) placement, or maybe an adjustment to the player's technique is called for.

Yes further away with one condenser mic sounds like the ticket, though I think the zydeco guys playing the cajun button accordion must be using the mic inside the accordion also, for that tight one note sound. thanks.
