MIC REVIEWS

Post by assfortress » Sat Nov 08, 2003 10:12 pm

Here's how it will work. If you want to review a mic, first check to see if its already been reviewd. If it has just reply to that thread with your review. If it hasn't been reviewed just start a new thread with the name of the mic as the subject. Private message me (assfortress) and I will edit this thread with a link to your review. Everyone should contribute no matter your skill level. If you want someone else to review a mic that you want to know about pm me and Ill add it to the requested reviews list.

I've seen several guitar, bass, amp, effects, etc blue books. Would anyone here buy a mic blue book? Should we all ban together to make one? Should Tapeop create one? Official blue book sets cost about 6 to 8 bills, and they are very unrealistic. Would you pay $30 a year for a Tapeop approved BB? That's a hell a lot more than your free subscription, and about half to nothing of your next year of gear buying.

Can you make them searchable... or be able to list them by features or price?

Just an idea.

This is f**king great. It really helps those of us without the motivation to go digging in the seach engine. Question: is it okay to add my opinions on some of these mics and bump up the posts even if the reviews are so old?

Definitly, more of that would be cool to get several reviews of one mic from all kinds of people.

Has anyone tried the Ribbon Mic from Oktava? I think the model # is ML 52. They sell for $200 @ Gtr Ctr, and I am wanting to grab one, but was not overly thrilled with my Oktave MK219.
Yes, I am one of THOSE people, up in the attic, trying to recreate the magical sounds of my youth (cheap trick, boston, pavement) on the family 8 track recorder.

search for it, joel and chris both like them, and they've posted about it quite a few times.

I've had great luck with the AKG C1000 and a Royer SF12 on electric guitars.
