tape machine repair in Austin, tx?

Post by villican » Tue Dec 30, 2003 9:09 am

anyone know of anywhere in/or near Austin that can repair a Fostex r8 1/8 inch 8 track? i think it has something to do with the motor. it rewinds and fast forwards, but when i push play, it just locks up. anyone know what the problem might be? i don't want to have to ship this thing as it is kind of heavy and bulky...i haven't used it in years and want to get some mixes off of some tapes i recorded a while back. and maybe experiment with some analog recording again.

1/8" 8 track? is a 1/8 machine that bulky? that's cassette deck size, right?

it's 1/4"-my fault. Fostex R8 is the model... it's not a cassette deck style.

The guys at Circle Stereo run a good shop. Most of the gear they work on is vintage audiophile stuff. I think they'd be helpful with your reel-to-reel.
It's a cool shop with a lazy tabby cat that sleeps on receivers.
