...you're prepared to spend perhaps a few hundred dollars more to replace all the input transformers. If you look closely at the hand-drawn schematic, the input transformers are rated for 300-4K "voice" service. The output transformers might be similarly narrowband, but the print doesn't say. These are telephone amplifiers, not a "kewl toob mixer" as the description would have you believe.

By the time you replaced the transformers to make the thing suitable for music recording--AND built or bought a suitable power supply, since one isn't included with the unit--you'd be out just as much if not more money than it would cost to build a set of 8 preamps from scratch.
I don't know the seller and I have no beef with him, but I'm posting this message here as a warning because this seems like the kind of item that many TapeOppers would bid on...
