Rode NTV

What's the deal with the Rode NTV? I keep hearing about it. Ray Benson favors it over a U47?

How much do they go for?

I've seen them used for around $550.

I was able to borrow one for a few weekends of four-tracking and found it very useful for drums, acoustic guitar and vocals. I really dug it, and when I got a PPA LD-2 - as much as I like it - I really missed some of character of the NTV, especially for vocals.

I used one as a mono overhead at a studio in upstate NY called leopard studios. I used an API mic pre with it and I really liked it. really.

I think it has a cool, weird sound to it. I have the classic II but I gotta get the NTV. I think it might be cooler than a 4050, but not as cool as a 67 or an 87...
