Hey all:
Who has a rock-solid Logic/Mac/OS 9 rig? I recently made the switch from Steinberg, and now I can't seem to find a stable I/O solution. I'm leaning towards MOTU or RME. Any words of wisdom?

Re: Audio card prefs for Logic on a Mac
I got the information from an Emagic guy that they'll release a new box sometimes this year. Wait a little bit. From my experience with DAW, I reckon it's always preferable to stay within the same brand. The box is supposed to be an 8 in 8 out with AES/EBU. Think MOTU, Digi... That sort of high standard and not their consumer EMI 2/6...
Re: Audio card prefs for Logic on a Mac
the emagic website used to have a page of hardware comparisons but i can't find it on thier new site. i used to use a delta1010 and it was very reliable. then switched to metric halo MIO and it's equally as solid. motu and rme are well supported too from what i gathered researching the MIO. i think if anything is going to cause hangups in logic on 9, it'll be OMS and the midibox. this is easily avoided by using an emagic midibox which employs its own midi protocol so you can lose OMS altogether.
per potential hardware issues, check this logic forum..

good luck.

look into the lynx 2C. It sounds awesome and is about $950.

I have used the MOTU 2408 Mk. II for quite a while and it works great. I added a rack of Apogee AD16, and it all works together fine. And that's on OS9.
Years ago I made the switch from Cubase to Logic also, and since then Logic has been my favorite software of all time.

Thanks all. I think I'm going to hold out for that new Emagic box. I've got their little EMI, and it records fine, but the outputs are really noisy. It's fine when I mix down, but it's got a lot of hiss when I'm playing back. I've never really trusted USB audio. Oh well.
Thanks again.
