IMHO, the 602 gives you a huge rock kick sound.
Nothing subtle, just BIG.
If you like a monster kick, you will like the 602.
I like it for some stuff, but it is kind of a one trick pony.

I use the E602 for almost every session I track.as an inside kick.
For varying styles of drumming, I usually select an appropriate out side kick mic, as I find that this varies more from drummer to drummer than the sound of the inside thwack.

I have a bunch of microphones for kick, and this one has become my first pull.

I've been using the Sennheiser e602 for several months now, and I'm really liking it. I disagree that it's always HUGE, though. Obviously, mic placement affects hugeness factor quite a bit, but it does pick up a lot of low end, like it's supposed to. I've found the low end of the Sennheiser actually balances out nicely with the upper mid frequencies my overheads and room mics tend to pick up from the kick. I'm sure you could find better, but what for what it is (and for the money - I got mine practically new for $120 on ebay) I think it's really good.

I also used it on a bass cab once, and got nice results when double-tracked with this funky old EV dynamic mic that I have.

i would have to say this is the problem solver of all kick mics.......if you have a shiitty drummer with a shitty kick drum....this is my first pull as well.....best damn $160 ebay purchase( for a mic anyway) i ever made.....i would choose it over a d112 anyday

I have a 602, a 421, and a beta 52, and the 602 usually wins on bass drum. Plus I got it for 90 bucks with a stand... I highly reccomend!
As it was in the begining, so shall it be in the end...
