I made a 5 stringed bowed electric instrument out of clear acrylic. Looked like a bong with strings. Used to have a picture, but it's lost.

Exactly. I'm a "purist" myself. Glass devices only and to be even more specific: Pyrex.

If it's not Pyrex then it should be wood, like a rosewood.

So, how much do you compress the signal for best results when mic'ing a bong? Or is that a DIY question.

UTFSF got me nowhere on "compression and bongs".

This has given me an idea! Someone e-mail the electric modeling cowbell guy! I'd bet a nickle and a sandwich he's got a modeling bong in the works. That said, there's a pretty well miced bong hit on Down's first record.

you gotta figure, cheap chinese ldc's would make pretty good bongs, you know, tubular and already coming with the screen and all...

Ummm.. I have the perfect setup for bong recording.. Yeah, so if there's anyone in the Salt Lake area who needs to record a hit, just bring me the bong with enough goodies for a few bowls.. It may take a few takes..

No charge..

Thanks.
