Hey, Minneapolis peeps...

Post by evilaudio » Thu Aug 02, 2007 8:21 am

Greetings!

My wife and I will be venturing up to Minnesota the 1st week of October, specifically in the St. Paul/Minneapolis area to check out the cities and surrounding areas for possibly moving there in the near future. We've had enough Ft. Wayne, and are ready for a better place to call home.

Is there anyone there that would be able to show us around a little bit? I'm mainly curious to find out about the "studio scene"/situation, and the music clubs, bars, and halls. I'd like to work with music, obviously. I work and mingle primarily with the punk/hardcore/metal people, but am open to whomever may have the time to give us a bit of a "tour", so to speak, or just meet for a few hours and chat. I'll buy lunch/dinner or whatever for the trouble!

If you know anyone that's not a tape-opper that fits this profile, or could point me in a good direction to find someone like this, please let me know. Unfortunately I do not know anyone from this area, but it intrigues me and I've heard a lot of good things about these cities. Just looking for a more cultural and thriving music "scene" with the hopes of working with an established studio, or opening my own studio space. Better winters are a plus, too!

Any help you can provide is much appreciated!

Lesson #1 re: MN- don't expect anything to get done between Memorial Day and Labor Day. Between cabins, graduations, weddings, family reunions, and vacations, we never get together. I see my out of town friends more regularly than my in-town friends. That's why you haven't heard from any of us.

Besides, the bridge collapse has been a major damper around here.

I can probably meet up with you assuming my day job doesn't schedule a trip. PM me if interested.

I see some good links were posted for you. That is a good start.
Let me know when we are close to the date you are coming to Mineapolis and we can set up a meeting. At our studio, a bar where ever.

I don't know much about the studio scene, but I can tell you this is a GREAT town for live music... one of the best in the country. And it's just a darn nice place to live.
