RICHMOND VA TapeOp folks? beer night or some such nonsense?

Regional activities, relevant news, job openings, studio searches, local beer nights (not a forum to plug the new album you just worked on)

Hey everybody, let's shoot for this Friday the 10th. Allen's goin' out of town Saturday, and I assume some of you might be traveling on Easter and don't want to stay out late the night before. Friday the 10th at 10 at Metro Sound Studio good? -Chris

Yeah man, spring is in the AIR, for sure! Everyone is pumped to be out and doing stuffs!
I bumped into some people last night that i am encouraging to turn up for the meet up. So, hopefully we'll be able to get a few more people on board.
We'll sort out our plan for the Opto and i recently came across a reamp schematic that would be super easy to put together. I am actually going to try to have one built for the meet up and see how it stands up to the ReAmp from John C.
Fun stuff! See ya in a few days!

Pretty sure I can make it, say a 75% chance. Would love to look over those plans, Allen! I'd be happy to make the order, again -- hopefully everything can be done via Mouser.

Erik, i ran it up through mouser and for 6 units worth of parts it's about 210. a bit more than the original idea from scott hamilton, but we aren't getting the quantity price breaks...Unfortunately, the Vactrol we do have to get from Allied.
I am going to post the info on my site, i will put the link in here in a min.

ok, here it is: http://www.vikingrecording.com/tapeopto/

On the Schematic are some recommended changes which i believe are reflected on the BOM.
I did not move on the power supply upgrade as it was damn impossible to find an appropriate power supply.

word!

well it's looking like i'm not going to make it :( but if my plans horrendously fall through i'll be there in a heartbeat.

but have few beers for me and definitely count me in on taking part in the gadget building/buying, and if you do the parts order let me know who to get cash to.

anyway, rock it out my friends and i'll catch you later.

word, and let me know how the reamp works out to. that's something i could really stand to make.

and hey has anyone else noticed the astronomical amount of views our little party of a thread has received? i think the rest of the tomb community is totally jealous. :D i would be... if i didn't live here.

Sorry to hear about your other commitments Dave. But, otherwise this is shaping up nicely.

So we're all clear, 10pm at Metro Sound Studio. The address is 117 W Broad St, but I think everybody already knows where it is. Come to the back door though, where the stairs and loading dock are and call me because it will be locked. My number is (4one0) 2nine4-159one. Look forward to seeing e'rybody! -Chris

"e'rybody!"
yes!

So hunting around my junk piles last night i couldn't scrounge a suitable 600:600 transformer for the DIYreamp. bummer.
I will likely get one to fiddle with and will have something to show you guys by next meet up.

See you tonite!

you're the man, Adam!

Now if we can get Erik and Dave to drop everything they have going on and come drink beers, we'll be in business!

i know! it's killing me. i would at least stop by but i'm out of town.

the only thing that is making me feel better about not being there is that i feel like we will have to meet up more often and drink more beer to do the compressor project.
