I think it's funny that this thread is a year and 1/2 old, and tape op beer night still has not come to light.

So LA...

It's true....I won't leave a 5 mile radius of my house. I went to Burbank once, Culiver City once too.....man, that was mortifying!

Speak for yourself.
Born & raised.
Go out all the time.

Goin' out tonight, LBC if anyone wants to go.310-901-2490.

Might be true for posters on this board, but NOT a "so LA" thing.

PS, I'm 20-30 minutes from LB, no sweat.

Yeah, I'm in, if I'm not working, but I'll be getting off by 10-11 for the next couple weeks I think, so as long as it's not an early thing I should be able to make it. Name the spot. I'd prefer Hollywood/Silverlake area(and could offer a bunch of suggestions if you're interested), but it seems like this thread always turns into an argument of where to go and then just dies off, so I'll go wherever.

Any time after the 27th looks good for me. I'll go anywhere. Preferably not on the same night as Midnight Ridazz, though 8)

Name a spot and I'll be there.

Jmiller, I do ridazz sometimes, but not so frequently as I did last year. Doing Sin's and Sprockets, as well as Highland Park stuff more.

Just in case anyone wants a pre party, my band is playing at the scene tonight (wednesday the 27th) and in pasadena at the old towne pub on the july 7th (caltech students get specials... perhaps he'll open it to other students too... not sure yet) Just say hi to Rich, the tall dude with an amish-y beard and glasses.

I guess it's true regarding this thread being around forever... in LA we're too busy driving to go meet up with strangers ... That said, I went out to play in the 909 the other day and dang... talk about vibrant music scene... Abe Vigoda, John Thill, Voice on Tape, Whitman... some crazy lofi roots music (I just made up that term)

But yeah... 29th???

I wonder if some of the engineers I've met in LA (and are my boyz!!!) read this. Represent!!!

DAT player needed

Post by BeepBeep » Wed Jul 11, 2007 2:59 pm

Hey, if any of you LA guys have a DAT player I can borrow for a few days I would really appreciate it. I've got to transfer some old DATs to ProTools for editing.

PM me if you can help out.

Thanks

Weird, I've been watching this thread but hadn't seen the recent posts.
I think it's funny that this thread is a year and 1/2 old, and tape op beer night still has not come to light.
We're too damn spread out. I don't mind going somewhere for a beer or two but it's always a drag to have a 30 minute drive home after a few beers. If you're in Santa Monica, you probably don't want to go out to Burbank, and vice versa. Of course, no one ever wants to come to the Valley, and even driving into Silverlake from NoHo can be a chore on a Saturday night due to traffic (even late). If we had better mass transit that ran later, I'd just take the subway and ride my bike from the nearest stop but even then they stop running by midnight.

Another reason I don't get out much is that I work at home and sometimes can't spare the time, even at night (I think a lot of people in L.A. have irregular jobs- just drive around during a weekday afternoon and notice how many people just seem to be hanging around and not working). Plus, I'm married, so I'm more likely to score by staying in than going out 8)

Nevertheless, we should resurrect the idea. Chris, I owe you a phone call.

I'm hoping to go on the upcoming Chinatown ride. I ride into Chinatown from North Hollywood every once in a while, so I think it'd be fun!
