Looking for a suggestion in Pittsburgh

Regional activities, relevant news, job openings, studio searches, local beer nights (not a forum to plug the new album you just worked on)

I'll be there as well--cycle jacket, horn-rim glasses, and if I can't get my son to go to sleep tonight, I'll have enormous dark circles under my eyes.

Joe from Machine Age is right:
1. we should get together
2. you should check out machine age - maybe they'll let you rent their room for a period and you can still DIY
3. Brilobox is a kind of nice place where you can have a conversation

We got together last week for the Stock Market Crash show that was on Wed. The owner liked them so much they booked them for two more shows in March.

You made it, Garrett? Maurice and I were downstairs...we didn't stick around for the show though.

Anyway, we were thinking that we should do it again.

BTW GO STEELERS!! I'm on Butler street in Lawrenceville, and it's friggen nuts outside right now.

Oh, actually, good news on the recording front for me...the landlady OK'd the plans I have for the basement, so I'll be starting some minor construction this week. We like the way the basement's been sounding, and I'm excited to be spending the recording fund on something we'll be able to reuse later. Plus, it's always nice to not have to watch the clock/wallet, you know?

I'd love to check out your studio, though...how far out of town is Turtle Creek?

There are a bunch of interesting rooms in the Mr Smalls building. I love that place. http://www.mrsmalls.com

Well, it seems we've flushed out a few more lurking Yinzers...should we try and schedule round two of Pittsburgh TapeOp Beer Night? Say, late February?

Hey Guys,
Wish I would have found this thread sooner. Anyway, if anyone is planning another Pittsburgh TapeOp event, I'd love to hear about it.
And a shout out to Garrett. I recorded at his studio in December. Great place, cool guys, lovely gear.

So, what say the yinzers? Shall we try to schedule a new Pittsburgh TapeOp night, hopefully with more than two people this time? :) (No offense, Maurice)

I'm thinking mid-March, although not the 9th (I have a gig). We did the Brillobox last time, which was nice, but I'm certainly open to other suggestions.

Any thoughts?

I'm also doing a live radio broadcast on the 9th. (Any Pgh TapeOppers want to cover Jandek live on the radio? Email me.) Elsewhere's fine, though Brillobox is one of the best bars in the city right now. (Hey, I had a great gig there on Jan. 26th.)

So jkretz, are you interested in covering a Jandek tune or two on the 9th?
