Southern California indie rock/folk/pop bands?

Check out Rookie Card from San Diego. They are exactly what you're looking for. I haven't heard their new album but the first two are great.

You might be interested Kite Flying Society in San Diego. They have a Shins/Belle&Sebastion/Beach Boys thing going on, and a new record.

Yeah, I'm really glad I got to work with them! They recorded a cover of the Pixie's "Debaser" for the OC soundtrack. We did a "rock" version and an acoustic live to 2 track version as well. Not sure which one will make the cut...
