Chicago Beer Night

Post by cgarges » Mon Jun 18, 2007 6:31 pm

Hey all you Chicago-type folks!

I'll be up there the first week in July. Anyone want to get together for a hang? The 4th or 5th would probably be the best nights for me. It'd be great to catch up at like an Aurelio's or something. I'm open to suggestions.

By the way, Bang Bang is playing on the 3rd at the Abbey Pub. I'll be getting into town that night, so I probably won't make it, but I highly recommend checking them out.

Well, the 4th I may have plans, but the 5th I think I'll be open.

I'm free both days. The 5th might be less hectic. We should go to a place with good beer, like Map Room or Hopleaf. If transportation is the key, Red Line Tap is a decent place.
not to worry, just keep tracking....

Red Line Tap is kinda cool, used to be a little strange but has since improved. I played a show there awhile back.

If it's for food, maybe Twisted Spoke? I had a great Thai meal on Saturday at Spoon Thai on Western but they're BYOB. Where are you staying Chris?

I think the 5th is probably going to work better for me. Is that a total downer for anybody?

Anyone have any suggestions? Is there an Aurelio's downtown? I'm most familiar with the one in Homewood, but I know that's probably a little far for most of you to go. We should probably meet somewhere that doesn't have loud music. That's not really condusive to discussion.

Oh, by the way Joe, I'm staying with my in-laws.

Hey Hey!

Chris... Saw you at TapeOpCon with Mitch Easter. Enjoyed your playing a lot.

I don't know if I know any of the rest of you (hard to say by the UserNames) but I'd love to connect.

The fifth sounds good to me.

BTW... for those in Chicago, check out:

And if you only know EARS from years ago, check it out again.

Thanks, man! We had fun inspite of the bizzarre backline situation.

I think it's just a couple locations in the south suburbs. The one in Homewood is @ 4 blocks from me.

I can make it on the 5th. If it's just drinks, I'd suggest Alive One on Halsted (2 doors up from banjo mart). Or there's always the L&L Tavern by the Belmont El Station - Pabst on tap!

If you want to stay downtown, there's always Cal's at 400 S. Wells St.

It's a punk bar in downtown. Live music only happens friday and saturday, so a tuesday night would be quiet-ish. There's an outdoor section with tables on the sidewalk.

There is an Aurelio's, I think it closes at 7:00 though.
