RPM Challenge 2008

Post by TheStevens » Fri Jan 04, 2008 10:56 am

So it's less than a month 'til february, and there's nothing on the official RPM website about this year.

www.rpmchallenge.com

Kind of a bummer, but it's not gonna stop me! We can still network and share our albums on forums such as this one and the one on the RPM site!

Who else is in this year? :D

EDIT: nevermind, it's official!

I've been thinking about it, however I am without a studio space and the ability to "turn it up" until I buy a house in the next few months. I thought I'd already be in a new place and putting up room treatments by now. Not sure if I can commit to it this year, yet again.

I'm slightly interested in throwing a group together just for this, but I have one question. WTF is RPM? All I can think of is revolutions per minute and [computer nerdiness]the red hat package manager[/computer nerdiness].

RPM = record production month.

You write, record, mix, and submit a cd in one month.

Then you re-introduce yourself to your friends/spouse/kids during the next month.

I did it last year, but this year I think I'm going to take a pass... too much going on this year, including family stuff (baby #3 due March 1).

It's worth doing, though. It gave me a half dozen good new songs, and the kick I needed to finish up a proper album of my stuff...

That's hysterical.

I remember reading a bit about RPM last year. i actually don't have a whole lot going on this month (yet) and i'd be interested to see what i could pull outta my a$$ in a month. maybe i'll give it a shot.

I think my band is going to use this as an excuse to record our full length.

I entered with some friends - neither of us have any idea what we are going to produce, but I guess thats the fun of the whole thing.

just another excuse to spend weekends indoors recording...

i too signed up for the '08 RMP project. i've been doing lots of thinking and listening and brainstorming on all aspects of my game plan. it's starting to take shape and i'm getting excited! i'm blogging regularly on the whole process (i'll post a link to my "artist" page on the RMP website when I get the chance). and hey, it's a leap year. one extra day to get this done!

I just checked to see if my login from last year works still... IT DOES! Wow, I only got 13 days into this thing last year before giving up...
