Post by MarcoPogo » Thu Jan 31, 2008 7:11 pm

Hey There,

There?s a petition to induct Adrian Belew in to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, which I (Mark Rubel) would ask you to sign:

http://www.petitiononline.com/ab2009/petition.html

Here are some excerpts from the petition:

?TO: ROCK & ROLL HALL OF FAME FOUNDATION:

We believe that Adrian Belew has rightly earned his place in the illustrious Hall of Fame, and we will endeavor to display this in the following snapshot of the incredible life and career of this man....?

Some of the artists that he has recorded and toured with:

?Frank Zappa, David Bowie, Talking Heads, Paul Simon, Laurie Anderson, Nine Inch Nails, Tori Amos, Mike Oldfield, Bela Fleck and The Flecktones, Herbie Hancock, The Bears, Cyndi Lauper, The Elvis Brothers, King Crimson, Ryuichi Sakamoto, David Byrne, Jerry Harrison, Joe Cocker, Robert Palmer, Joan Armatrading, Jean-Michel Jarre, Nine Inch Nails, Jars of Clay-?

And eighteen solo records?

?Music fans describe Adrian Belew as a musician who excels in musicianship, vocal ability, composition of inspirational and innovative music, and audience rapport. These qualities enable Adrian Belew to significantly contribute to the evolution and perpetuation of rock music. Adrian Belew?s undeniable impact on rock should earn him a place of distinction in the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. As a result, we, his fans, respectfully urge the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Foundation to include Adrian Belew in the 24th Annual Induction to the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 2009.?

?Sincerely,

The Undersigned?

I can think of no-one more deserving.

Cheers!

-MR

Belew is sort of like M. Emmet Walsh or JT Walsh or perhaps Steve Buscemi, in that he has been around for (and instrumental in) lots of cool stuff.

Also, that's his Dylan imitation in FZ's "Flakes" (Sheik Yerbouti), right?

Signed.
