Finished me an album: Bluebird

Post by syrupcore » Mon Apr 21, 2008 1:23 am

It was actually recorded in 2005. A couple of moves, a stolen laptop and a daughter later, my friend did some lovely artwork for it and I finally got it out. This was the last test mix I could find - the protools files were stolen.

Nerd info: It consists almost entirely of a tenor ukulele and a roland sh-101 recorded onto a Boss BR-8 in a hotel room in san francisco. Mostly a 4047 or akg d1000 through one of the the little belari pres. I had just moved from Maui and it was what fit in my bags. Drums are either beating the uke, sounds from the sh-101 or pots/pans and junk (57, tomb ribbon or v67g). Mixing and some overdubs were done in the box with occasional excursions outside of it to play with my space echo.

Will

edit: er, this shoulda been in the "listen to my stuff" forum. sorry.

This is some great stuff. I love the juxtaposition of the ukelele, and the synths. this is the best new music I've heard in a long time. :D

I'll check this out tonight...it sounds like it's gonna be really interesting. I'm just now learning the uke...what a fun instrument to play.

Very slightly OT, I love the web design on the download page. Real clear, real classy.

Oh, and nice 101 pickin'. It's surprising how big the last cut sounds, given the minimal equipment list.

So within the first 5 seconds of hearing the first tune in streaming mode, I headed straight back for a download. This is super fun music! The SH-101 is a secret weapon of mine. You can hear it here www.myspace.com/nickafflittomusic on a tune called Ohh Na Na. There's an instrumental section at the end of the tune where the SH-101 takes over.

Thanks for the tunes! Love it.

Man, this is great stuff. Perfect combo of acoustic/electro elements; still retains a nice intimate feel.

Thanks for making all this available for free public consumption. What a treat!

wow. leave for a while and people say the nicest things. Thanks everyone.

Craig, it's Mele mahogany tenor. Some songs are GCEA some are DGBE. Nice thing about a tenor.
