Chicago TOMB Hang - Nov. 14th

Post by channelcat » Tue Nov 04, 2008 9:15 am

Anyone still interested in getting together on Friday, Nov. 14th? I think we need to choose another venue this time. Any suggestions?

I might be able to be there, I have a show opening that weekend.

How can you laugh?

When you know I'm down!

Ahem.

Reasonably good chance I'll be working that night, but otherwise I'm up for it.

P's anniversary that day but I believe the celebration is later in the month, so I'm lookin' good for it.

I reckon, "Man buys ring woman throws it away
Same old thing happens everyday" didn't happen with them.

But unless you are a beautiful woman, lemme add, "Keep your hands to yourself!"

Let's try to get more than 5 attendees total (only 3 at once last time). Doing it on a Friday in an attempt to get more folks from the burbs in. Venue suggestions welcome.

Is the Loop better or worse?

I mean, good transport, but more expensive drinks and parking ...

The Loop's a hassle if you're driving IMO, but great if you're taking the Metra in. Is there any place to get cheap beer in the city anymore? Maybe L&L Tavern....mmm, Pabst on tap! HA!

I'm totally open. Marshall mentioned a couple places by him last time. Piece in Wicker Park was discussed as well. I always like A Live One (by GC-Halsted). The Fizz has Bell's out the wazoo. Bring on the suggestions.

Is Hop Leaf not quite as crowded now, maybe?

Ah well. I just got the word today. I'll be working (Chicago Jazz Ensemble!!!) the 14th, so I won't be able to attend.

Sco - you will be missed! I promise to hoist a pint for you.

vvv - I'm not familiar with Hop Leaf, so I have no idea. Is it a good place for a group looking to chat?

CJE is one of my best gigs, though I'll miss the beer night.

One little gem in the loop is "Stocks and Blondes", by Washington and Wells. Open when the rest of the area shuts down, good beers (and I'm a snob) for decent prices, good pub food.

I've not been to Hop Leaf in years ...

Do they still dance the bar in S&B?

Downtown I mostly drink in Petterino's, but that's a job thing; kinda expensive and stupid shirt&tie thang.

Monk's Pub is hokay (Wells & Lake), but crowded on Friednights as are, now that speak of it, all the Loop bars, until mebbe 7-8:00.

So, eh, what time are we lookin' at?
