Mercy Sound Recording NYC Looking for Top House Engineer

Post by relaxo » Mon Oct 05, 2009 12:38 pm

Over the past year the studio has been refocused and refitted as a world class acoustic (microphone) recording and music production facility. We are now looking for a new house engineer/mixer.

We have always required two house engineers to fill the studio calendar. Unfortunately, we recently lost a great lead engineer to West Coast defection syndrome, (turncoat!!!) so now we need to replace him.

We?re looking for an engineer who has the following qualities:

-Friendly and great with clients.
-Has a deep resume and can record and mix with the best.
-Is very technically minded, equally at home with miking techniques as well as midi remapping and routing and is a high speed Pro Tools wiz.
-Is a specialist in guitar amps, drum miking, acoustic instrument recording, etc.
-Has an existing client base that will be working with you at the studio.
-Is musical and creative.

Your primary job will be engineering and mixing music...Mercy Sound is a music studio. However, you may take the position and run with your own individual skill set...we are very flexible and open to ideas.

A bit more about the studio...Mercy Sound Recording Studios has been around for about five years, so some of you may have been here before, but if you haven?t been here recently, you haven?t been here. The studio now has much of the worlds best equipment, which has been researched, auditioned, replaced and replaced again, fine-tuned, filtered... to be one of the most refined and focused medium sized studio gear list in Manhattan. Over the last year we've worked everyday doing nothing but making incredible improvements, fine tuning every aspect to such a degree that it must be considered a whole new studio.

We are located on East 14th Street in Manhattan and share the floor with three other independently owned studios...we share equipment (to give each room the gear power of a huge studio), we share clients, we share laughs...it?s a very friendly floor.

Economically, Mercy Sound is a studio for the people and does not believe in charging clients exclusive upscale rates. The fees we charge are very down to earth, so you will be working a lot if all stays to plan. The studio and engineer do a 50/50 split when recording regular house clientele.

Why else work at Mercy Sound Recording Studios?
-perfect acoustics...tightly bass trapped and acoustically treated rooms
-great monitoring...Legacy mastering monitors as mains that can maintain their uniquely revealing detail and tight bass up to extreme sound levels. Klein & Hummel 0300D and NS-10's
-Pro Tools 7&8 Accel on a 8-core Intel Mac Pro w/ 10GB RAM & 4TB storage, backed-up bi-weekly. Waves Diamond TDM & tons of other high-end plugins. Logic 7&8, Reason, DP.
-Songwriter's heaven. The best instruments and amplifiers ever made, all carefully chosen. Virtual instruments and sample libraries powerhouse.
-specialized drum room with EXTREME bass correction for the punchiest, tightest sound.
-the studio is kept running perfectly, there are doubles of everything and our DAW didn?t crash in 2002 and it doesn?t crash now. We have an in-house tech genius.
-we have talented and friendly long-term assistants and interns to help out every day.
-you will be working with a large collection of hand-picked gear, all put through a rigorous selection process...some of the finest tools on earth at your everyday disposal.
-people usually say the studio has the best vibe they've ever felt. Private, mellow, easy East 14th St. Greenwich Village / Gramercy Manhattan location.

If you wold like to talk further about this position and/or come tour the studio personally, please contact Mercy Sound at 212-353-0076 http://www.mercysound.com/ email: studio@mercysound.com

Also, freelance engineers and producers can rent this accessible but secluded Manhattan studio starting $35 per hour including an assistant and going down to $20 per hour for large blocks of time.
