Wow, shit, I just noticed this...aw shucks, you guys are the bestest!
Yes, the birthday bender began last Friday night at the Cornell Lab of Ornithology, where I got tanked while discussing the merits of stuffed hummingbirds during my wife's departmental holiday party. Then I retired to my friend Greg's house to enjoy some Magellan gin (NOTE: it's good).
(Cool recording sidenote: the Lab has a room full of old field recording equipment, some of which goes back to its earliest days recording field sounds in the 1930's. It's geek heaven.)
