doesn't mean it's true....that it does work...it remains to be seen if it's temporary or permanent...Recycled_Brains wrote:They're saying that it DID.suppositron wrote: That would be sweet as hell if it worked though.

It seems they are judging by the lack of bodily and behavioral symptoms associated with tinnitus: "When we paired tones with brief pulses of vagus nerve stimulation, we eliminated the physiological and behavioural symptoms of tinnitus in noise-exposed rats."finleysound wrote:How the heck are they able to tell the treated rats aren't experiencing tinnitus anymore?
Personally, if I had tinnitus, I'd be willing to take this temporary solution if it turns out it isn't permanent. That is, if it doesn't reveal itself to have some crazy horrible side-effects.supafuzz wrote:doesn't mean it's true....that it does work...it remains to be seen if it's temporary or permanent...
edit: And, er, if it didn't mean a scientist had to follow me around with a machine, electrically stimulating my vagus nerve when I needed to better hear. Perhaps a less disruptive/intrusive method. . . It's a step in the right direction, though!

NICE.
And... as far as having a scientist following me around, stimulating my vagus nerve... well, I guess my willingness to put up with that would have a lot to do with the nature of the scientist. For instance, an annoying, yappy scientist, who's always asking me for money and eating BK? I'm not sure I could do it.
