Studio/freelance engineer in Hudson Valley?

Post by neonaudio » Thu Jun 27, 2013 8:30 am

A friend of my father's is trying to record a piano ballad and, after one bad production experience, is looking for someone new to record and mix the song. A studio with a piano would probably be ideal, but I'm sure she'd be open to a location recording with a mobile rig if the person was good. She lives in the Hudson Valley, about 2 hours north of NYC.

She's not a professional, but a good player and singer. I believe she's only planning to record this one song. If anyone knows of a good, reliable resource for her, please let me know.

Try Oktaven in Yonkers. That's really at the very bottom of the Hudosn Valley I suppose, but a killer piano and mic collection.

Potentially closer to you, Quad Lakeside in Greenwood Lake is a good bet. And if Waterbury CT isn't too far of a treck, Power Station New England is a nail-for-nail recreation of the famous Avatar A room for very cheap. Tell any of 'em I sent ya!

In case none of those fit the bill, here are some links with more studios with pianos up thataway. It depends a bit on budget and genre, but there's Old Soul, Dreamland, Carriage House, Waterfront, Clubhouse, Barbershop -- a ton of good places that wouldn't be a crazy drive. And if you ever feel like trekking to the city, give me a call:

Also, try the SonicSearch directory:

Good luck!
