Such a bummer. One of my all time favourites and I didn't even know he co-wrote the tunes.

I can't even remember how many copies of those Al Green albums I wore out. Beautiful understated playing from Mr. Hodges. RIP

ouch. Respect.

I remember seeing Ann Peebles in SF in the early nlneties, touring with members of that original Hi house band. Teenie might not have been out with them, but it was definitely his brother on bass and Howard Grimes on drums.

And the thing is . . . they sounded JUST LIKE those records. That sound wasn't built up or manufactured in the studio somehow -- it was coming straight from the musicians.
