RIP Charlie Haden

Post by drumsound » Fri Jul 11, 2014 2:47 pm

It is with a heavy heart I must announce Charlie Haden has died. He was ill with post polio related issues. I saw him with Song X when I was 15 and it was a life changing moment.

RIP

As an uneducated jazz fan, I always know if Haden's on it, it's gonna be great.

Oh, man. What an awesome bass player. He played on so many great things, including one of my all-time favorite records, Alice Coltrane's "Journey in Satchitananda". He will be missed.

Highly recommend listening to the recent Fresh Air in which they play a bunch of old segments with him. I, sad to say, had no idea he was such a political bad ass. Loved his playing, love his story.
