Coincidentally, just went up north a few weeks ago to start a cover of Do It Again (not my idea..).

a sad day, one of my favorite bands. i saw them live twice and they were impeccable. just the consummate musicians and they always hired the best guys/girls. their studio recordings are benchmarks for recording fidelity (or sterility in regards to gaucho if you will). just finished donalds book, great read.
thankfully donald has been doing the solo thing for a while so i hope he keeps going and i can catch him.

I caught 'em a cuppla years ago at The Chicago Theater (front row balcony) and was amazed at the virtuosity of the entire band. I had the impression that night that Becker was capable of ripping, but he stayed tasty.

when on guitar he was always just doing the tasty thing. jon herrington their usual lead player is the "ripper" guy. walter actual played bass on their early stuff, his switch to guitar was later on. some of his bass work is excellent. i much prefer his bass playing (granted i'm a bassist )
