I haven’t checked that email account today but some time ago he was looking for someone to take over. I believe he stated that he wants to focus on his other venture instead but don’t quote me on that.

Some kind of new age audio meditation product...I don’t know the name off the top of my head.

I’ve worked with sound for over 40 years as a designer of professional audio products. A sizable portion of that time was spent working with magnetic tape and optical film soundtrack recording…"

EDIT: Yep.

To answer the initial question...yes I received the emails. Sounds like he wasn't able to find someone to take over.

I don't have much experience with his mics, but I do have a pair of the capsules he makes for the Rode NT5s, which I use on every session.

Prices for pre-owned Oktava-Mod and MJE mikes are about to go through the roof.

my only experience was partly through a friend. he sent a MXL 990 to "mod" to his U47-like mic specs. First of all, my friend said he got back a different mic - not the exact one he sent in. Kind of strange since it was brand new... then he didn't really like it so he sent it to me to try. I found the proximity effect so overwhelming that it was unusable. It was weird. Not like any other U47 (or clone) that I've ever heard. Sold the mic and never looked back.

This sucks. I had just visited his site a couple weeks ago with the idea of having him upgrade my mk012 pair. Is there anyone else that does a comparable job? Probably not as he mentions the difficulty of find a successor.
Perhaps I'll diy it. Fortunately I have a third one i can experiment on first.
...but don't i recall that he did something to the capsule? It's been a while since I really looked in depth.

I've never seen any mention of modding the Oktavas, but maybe Dave Thomas? His https://advancedaudio.ca/ mics are pretty nice.

I think this guy is in the UK, but he seems to supply PC boards and some DIY advice: http://russelltechnologies.co.uk/rt-012.html I have a couple of MK012 that could use some tweaking and look forward to hearing of any DIY successes...

I am actually very disappointed that he went out of business. I did not even understand why he would leave this domain, what happened to him. I considered him the best specialist in this domain, and he was really outstanding. I still remember those lists with the people who could replace him as the best mic moders, and no one has ever reached his level. I am going to get my degree this summer, and I already have a great business plan, I am also getting into the microphone business. Now I need the services of cheap outstaffing company as they would help me a lot in the beginnings of my business life.
