Awesome.
He was a racist piece of shit, and an asshole to boot.
In my experience.

Yeah, I had read that.
On the other hand, I have Saddle Tramp on vinyl and it was a high school fave, and Fire on the Mountain was omnipresent when I was in college, circa '80.
On the other other hand, I never bought 'em on CD, haven't heard him in years since the movie.
OT (hey! I started this thread!) but related in a way, I was just reading Ryan Adam's "apology" - it can be tough to reconcile the music with the maker.

I had the extreme displeasure of working with the guy. Once.

Won't happen again!
In the 80's, he was down with the Marshall Tucker Band, Outlaws, Molly Hatchet, Blackfoot, Skynyrd crowd.
But I don't think it was anything more than the music and image - no 'net and I never saw him interviewed except about the movie, when I was more into Vai, anyway, by that time.
Seemed pretty good on fiddle, tho'.

All I will say, is that he COULD have participated more on the album, but because of his outlook, was basically never contacted again after the first song's overdubs he did do. LOL. Managed to piss off everyone on the project. Everyone.vvv wrote: ↑Mon Jul 06, 2020 6:29 pmWon't happen again!

About Steve Vai: I love him. Got to meet him once, at his studio. Super cool guy, humble as can be, and still one of the best electric guitar players ever.

Re: RIP, Charlie Daniels
I had a decent one working experience with him - a live show, and he actually came sidestage just to watch the opening act. Was polite about asking if he'd be in the way. Back around 1990 or so.
Pretty white crowd, and I don't recall any people of color on the crew. So maybe we didn't see the true character that night.

Quite likely... I have a bunch of country music musician friends, none had anything good to say about him, nor his passing. Oh well.Scodiddly wrote: ↑Tue Jul 07, 2020 7:09 pmI had a decent one working experience with him - a live show, and he actually came sidestage just to watch the opening act.
