What a loss. Between him and Jamerson, they covered most of what I consider awesome in bass playing.

I just saw this. How awful. We had Rocco and David Garabaldi in for a clinic when I worked in music retail. He was sweet and funny. Shaking his hand was amazing, because it was permanently in the position ready for those awesome 16th notes.

RIP brother.

I got to mix Tower of Power 7 nights in NYC more than once, I LOVE those guys! I mixed tham at The Bottom Line, and a few of them at the China Club on a jam night. One night Will Lee was there and they invited him up to play, and the difference was amazing, Will was great, but a totally different vibe, Rocco was an unstoppable force of nature, both played great! You could tell it was Rocco’s band. I miss those days.
Harumph!
